P3

We, as a group, have signed up to the Parish Paths Partnership with Essex County Council.  This involves us in surveying the Public Rights of Way (PROW).  We are concentrating, initially, on those PROW that access the Flitch Way.  This is to try and get people more aware of these PROW and subsequently to start using them.  We survey these PROW and then carry out remedial action.  This can include the erection of way markers, clearing of the paths, notifying ECC of any obstructions or problems.  It is hoped that once we have completed the way marking and clearing of the PROW at the Flitch Way, that we will then move on to checking these PROW along their whole length.  We hope at some stage to be able to get some circular walks advertised along the Flitch Way.

If you come across any problems with the PROW associated with the Flitch Way then please let us know by using the 'Contact Us' page on this site.

All of our P3 work is checked by Lisa Cross at County Hall.  She gives us the go ahead to carry out work, and ECC fund us for this work that we carry out.  This is done by supplying us with the equipment needed for the work eg brush cutter, loppers, shears, spades, wrecking bar etc..  All of this work is carried out, mainly on Wednesdays when we have vacant slots or too many volunteers turning up.

P3 volunteers under the supervision of Lisa Cross start to build a bridge allowing access to the footpath at Little Canfield

Job completed and the bridge is strong enough to hold all five volunteers at once!

We are now taking on major work within the parishes of Hatfield Peverel, Ulting, Little Canfield and Rayne.
