We've updated The Friends of the Flitch Way website to make more information available about the Flitch Way and the other areas we work to protect. For the first time you can download maps and information from our website.
If you would like to become a Friend, membership cost just £12 a year and the fees are used to provide training and safety equipment for the work party volunteers and producing and sharing information.
Projects in 2015/16 have included maintenance of the area around Rayne station, some work at Langford Halt in Maldon, Garnetts wood and the boardwalk at Dunmow, annual management work on the butterfly banks at Dunmow cutting and more recently considerable clearance work on large sections of the trail at Little Dunmow and Takeley. Our hedge laying projects have continued at Danbury and Great Notley with new volunteers taking part and our Footpath Work Group (Parish Paths Partnership) continue to work diligently opening up large numbers of overgrown footpaths throughout the county, replacing way markers, building bridges and improving access for everyone. Last but not least we have recruited several new volunteers allowing our Railway Carriage Museum to be open most weekends and school holidays.
