Footpath Work Group at Asheldham

1/4/2016

Nine volunteers travelled across to Asheldham to open up the sides of a very long bridleway.

The team was made up from, Alan, Andrew, Carl, Ian, Tony, Steve, Pat, Ann and Pete.
There was a lot of work to do so we split up into teams. Carl and Andrew spent some time cutting down some rotten trees at the start of the bridleway.
There was a great deal of rotten timber that had fallen down and was restricting the width of the bridleway. This was cut up and stacked in several areas.
There was also quite a lot of up growth of Blackthorn which needed to be cut down.
It was a lovely day and we had Sky Larks singing all around us as well as Robins, Blackbirds and Green Woodpeckers. We all worked very hard and enjoyed our time. We will be back to complete the task as there is an area that needs to be brush cut and there are some more rotten trees to take down.
